A tribute to a unsung world class Engineer I knew from childhood

I’ve just heard my next door neighbour from growing up has passed away.

Whilst he never had the chance to go to University himself, he was a superb hands-on Engineer, able to design and build anything.

He had been a technician at the Cavendish Lab, here in Cambridge and the attached explains how he was involved in a Nobel Prize. An unsung hero.

He moved away from Cambridge following a family tragedy, running his own Engineering bespoke solution consultancy until retirement. I hope the Cavendish would send a representative to the funeral, but I’ve no idea how they would be approached.
